Village History: Milford began as a Saxon settlement, 500 years later it appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086 as a small manor with a church, a mill and about 50 inhabitants. It belonged to Christchurch Priory from 1107 to 1539 and then passed as an investment to courtiers and city merchants. Milford's main resources were agriculture and the seasonal production of sea-salt, plus some smuggling.

The centre offers lots of regular village events & activities for all ages. Events Diary is always worth a look. New lottery grant means that the Community Centre will be rebuilt soon.
The West Solent Decorative & Fine Arts Society: | Tel: 01425 621459
NADFAS brings together people interested in the history of art and conservation. The West Solent DFAS was formed in 1974. The Society meets in the Church Hall on the third Monday of each month (except July and August) at 10.15 for 10.45am. Coffee is served before the meeting and the lecture lasts about an hour. Subjects vary but all are given by highly qualified lecturers. Visits are arranged during the year to places of interest.

A meeting point for local philatalists. 70 members usually 20-30 at a meeting. 4 meetings with speakers who provide a display of stamps.
Meetings: 1st Tuesday in the month from September to May from 2pm for 2.30pm-4.30pm (except auction which is at 7pm).

Small Bridge Club which plays Duplicate Pairs Bridge each Wednesday at 6.45 for 7pm start. The club meets in the village hall in the centre of the village. (Around corner from Chip shop) Informal atmosphere, visitors & new members welcome.

Milford on Sea Womens Institute: Meetings at All Saints Church Hall, Greenbanks Close, SO41 0SQ
Meetings on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 7pm. Visitors will be made welcome. A wide range of speakers and throughout the month members may also take part in a variety of activities. It is not all Jam and Jerusalem! They offer - Darts, Skittles, Produce, Walks, Drama, Play reading, in addition to various Craft based skills - try them all in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Royal British Legion: The Royal British Legion safeguard the welfare, interests and memory of those who served in the Armed Forces together with their dependants. The branch regularly arranges fund raising activities. New members are very welcome regardless of whether they have had the opportunity to serve in the Armed Forces - men and women.
Milford Gardeners Club: Meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at All Saints' Church Hall at 7.00 pm.

Milford Arts Group: Meetings are held in All Saints Church Hall, Milford on Sea.
Meeting held on the first Thursday of each month at 2.15pm (Except August). The club has an annual party in January and an Exhibition over two weeks at the end of July/beginning of August.

The Historical Record Society was formed in 1909. The society researches local history and preserves records of Milford on Sea. The have wealth of records in various forms: maps, photographs, books & transcripts. of early records, A lecture programme runs each year and these are held on the last Thursday of January, March, May, September and November. Visitors are welcome at any lecture for a small fee.

The Society was formed in 1979, the Social Section was introduced in January 1995. The meeting evenings are intended for members to play their own organs and keyboards. Concerts are held monthly. Other events include Classical Concert, Social Summer Party, Christmas Party and/or Dinner and Concert. The Society welcomes visitors.

Acrylic Art Classes
Helen Theobald holds acrylic art classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Keyhaven Sea Scout Hall aimed at students who have done some painting with acrylics, or would like to try the medium. It's a good one to try because you can create interesting textures and paint over your mistakes!
