Milford on Sea village is a vibrant community with lots to do. Clubs, societies, associations, the village has something for everyone to be entertained or get involved with.

Milford on Sea is certainly not short on active clubs & societies. There is a wide variety & something to suit all tastes & ages. On the following pages we have also covered other interesting clubs that may be of interest to you.

Village History: Milford began as a Saxon settlement, 500 years later it appeared in the Domesday Book of 1086 as a small manor with a church, a mill and about 50 inhabitants. It belonged to Christchurch Priory from 1107 to 1539 and then passed as an investment to courtiers and city merchants. Milford's main resources were agriculture and the seasonal production of sea-salt, plus some smuggling.

The centre offers lots of regular village events & activities for all ages. Events Diary is always worth a look. New lottery grant means that the Community Centre will be rebuilt soon.

The West Solent Decorative & Fine Arts Society: | Tel: 01425 621459
NADFAS brings together people interested in the history of art and conservation. The West Solent DFAS was formed in 1974. The Society meets in the Church Hall on the third Monday of each month (except July and August) at 10.15 for 10.45am. Coffee is served before the meeting and the lecture lasts about an hour. Subjects vary but all are given by highly qualified lecturers. Visits are arranged during the year to places of interest.

Held second Thursday of every month. (Currently at South Lawn Hotel whilst Community Centre being rebuilt.) Hosted by the Goodthyme Brothers with regular Guest Artists.
Starts at 8.15pm | Doors open 7.30pm. Admission £3.50. Bar on the night.

Jazz & Swing Nights at Milford on Sea Village Community Centre: Sea Road, Milford on Sea, SO41 0PH
Held fourth Friday of every month. Hosted by Milford's own swing band 'Windmill' plus regular Guest Artists.

Milford on Sea Stamp Club: Guide Hut, Sea Road, Milford on Sea, SO41 0PH
A meeting point for local philatalists. 70 members usually 20-30 at a meeting. 4 meetings with speakers who provide a display of stamps.
Meetings: 1st Tuesday in the month from September to May from 2pm for 2.30pm-4.30pm (except auction which is at 7pm).

Milford on Sea Bridge Club:

Small Bridge Club which plays Duplicate Pairs Bridge each Wednesday at 6.45 for 7pm start. The club meets in the village hall in the centre of the village. (Around corner from Chip shop) Informal atmosphere, visitors & new members welcome.

Milford on Sea Probus Club | Secretary: Chris Seward -
The club meets normally on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the South Lawn Hotel. Talks on topics of general and local interest are followed by lunch. Attendance for non-members is by invitation only. Please contact if you are interested in joining.

Milford on Sea Womens Institute: Meetings at All Saints Church Hall, Greenbanks Close, SO41 0SQ
Meetings on the third Tuesday of each month starting at 7pm. Visitors will be made welcome. A wide range of speakers and throughout the month members may also take part in a variety of activities. It is not all Jam and Jerusalem! They offer - Darts, Skittles, Produce, Walks, Drama, Play reading, in addition to various Craft based skills - try them all in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.

Royal British Legion: The Royal British Legion safeguard the welfare, interests and memory of those who served in the Armed Forces together with their dependants. The branch regularly arranges fund raising activities. New members are very welcome regardless of whether they have had the opportunity to serve in the Armed Forces - men and women.

Milford Gardeners Club: Meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month at All Saints' Church Hall at 7.00 pm.

Milford Arts Group: Meetings are held in All Saints Church Hall, Milford on Sea.
Meeting held on the first Thursday of each month at 2.15pm (Except August). The club has an annual party in January and an Exhibition over two weeks at the end of July/beginning of August.

Painting classes for all abilities. All subjects covered including seascapes, landscapes, flora and fauna. Classes lead by Shaun Stevens who is also delivers the Watercolour Master Classes for Chewton Glen and Highcliffe Castle. She is also Chairperson of the New Forest Art Society.

The Sunday Lunch Club team welcomes local people, especially those who are alone on Sundays and who would like to 'Go out for Lunch.'

Members are specifically involved in the recording and conservation management of the local environment and the wildlife in the parish of Milford on Sea.

The Historical Record Society was formed in 1909. The society researches local history and preserves records of Milford on Sea. The have wealth of records in various forms: maps, photographs, books & transcripts. of early records, A lecture programme runs each year and these are held on the last Thursday of January, March, May, September and November. Visitors are welcome at any lecture for a small fee.

The Society was formed in 1979, the Social Section was introduced in January 1995. The meeting evenings are intended for members to play their own organs and keyboards. Concerts are held monthly. Other events include Classical Concert, Social Summer Party, Christmas Party and/or Dinner and Concert. The Society welcomes visitors.

The choir offers individuals the opportunity to learn a wide range of music plus vocal exercises & harmonies and also to be part of performances at local events. Whether you are a complete beginner or experienced singer, everyone is welcome. Covering various types of contemporary music including pop, gospel style and musical theatre numbers, there is something for everyone.

The Total Voice Chamber Choir is for singers who like a challenge. Aimed at those with some experience and a bit of music-reading ability, the choir sings an eclectic range of choral music, from madrigals to pop classics.

Acrylic Art Classes

Helen Theobald holds acrylic art classes on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at Keyhaven Sea Scout Hall aimed at students who have done some painting with acrylics, or would like to try the medium. It's a good one to try because you can create interesting textures and paint over your mistakes!
